FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two Fort Wayne men are facing attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting that injured two children. Police say the suspects were arrested Thursday following an investigation into the July 6 shooting at a home.
A five-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy were hurt and are recovering, according to investigators. The case remains under investigation.

Details/Summary:
On July 6, 2026, at approximately 3:59 a.m., Fort Wayne Police Department officers responded to the 6000 block of Southcrest Road regarding a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile victim who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Following a thorough investigation, the FWPD Homicide Unit identified two suspects: 24-year-old Davareion Gentry and 18-year-old Duane Stevenson III.
On July 23, 2026, the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Task Force located Gentry and Stevenson III at separate locations within Fort Wayne and took them into custody. Both individuals were preliminarily charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Criminal Recklessness – Shooting into an occupied dwelling. They were transported to the Allen County Jail.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – After a violent holiday weekend in Fort Wayne, police say that someone shot multiple times into a home on Monday morning. Around 4 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department says that shots were fired into a residence on the 6000 block of Southcrest Road, close to Calhoun and Paulding.
Close to 7 a.m., police said that two children were hurt and taken to the hospital but that both are expected to recover. Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to come forward.

On July 6, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of gunshots fired in the 6000 bock of Southcrest Road. Upon arriva, officers dscovered a residence that had been struck multiple times by gunfire, aong w ith several shell casings located in the roadway.
Officers checked the residence and located two young juveniles nside who had sustained injuries. Both were mmediately transported to a local hospital in serious but non–life-threatening condition.
Officers and detectives canvassed the area and collected evidence at the scene. The FWPD Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit, and Air Support Unit were requested to assist and continue the investigation.
