FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – After a violent holiday weekend in Fort Wayne, police say that someone shot multiple times into a home on Monday morning. Around 4 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department says that shots were fired into a residence on the 6000 block of Southcrest Road, close to Calhoun and Paulding.
Close to 7 a.m., police said that two children were hurt and taken to the hospital but that both are expected to recover. Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to come forward.
The FWPD released the following:
On July 6, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of gunshots fired in the 6000 bock of Southcrest Road. Upon arriva, officers dscovered a residence that had been struck multiple times by gunfire, aong w ith several shell casings located in the roadway.
Officers checked the residence and located two young juveniles nside who had sustained injuries. Both were mmediately transported to a local hospital in serious but non–life-threatening condition.
Officers and detectives canvassed the area and collected evidence at the scene. The FWPD Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit, and Air Support Unit were requested to assist and continue the investigation.
