FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a man has died after a shooting at the Canterbury Green apartments.
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the reported shooting in the 2400 block of Abbey Drive around 2 p.m.
When they arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began providing life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
At this time, investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

On May 13, 2026, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 2400 block of Abbey Drive in Fort Wayne.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began administering life-saving measures. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
The Fort Wayne Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
At this time, there are no known threats to the community. The temporary lockdown at the local university and nearby schools, which was implemented as a precaution, has been lifted, and normal operations have resumed.
