ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says that one person died and another was injured in a crash early Friday morning on Old US 24. The call came in at around 5:30 for a personal injury accident at 15029 Old US 24, just east of New Haven.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department put out the following later on Friday morning:
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 5:26 a.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 15000 block of Old US 24 regarding a reported personal injury crash involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located the crash on Old U.S. 24, west of N. Berthaud Road. The preliminary investigation indicates that a Toyota passenger car was traveling eastbound on Old US 24 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line and struck a westbound Chevy pickup truck head-on.
First responders determined that both vehicles were occupied only by their respective drivers. The driver of the Chevy pickup truck was transported to a local hospital in critical condition; however, the injuries were later determined to be non-life-threatening. The driver of the Toyota passenger car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
