City Utilities says to expect lower river levels for inspections

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – City Utilities says that beginning Monday, November 9, 2026, the gate at Hosey Dam will be opened to lower river levels, allowing Public Works and City Utilities crews to conduct safety inspections of bridge piers and stormwater outfalls along the rivers.

The inspections are expected to take approximately seven to eight weeks. River users may notice lower water levels during this period, which could limit recreational access.

Once inspections are complete, the gate will be closed, allowing river levels to return to normal recreational levels.
