INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana lawmakers are asking Governor Mike Braun to allow farmers to use off-road diesel in semis during this harvest season.
Representative Jim Pressel of Rolling Prairie sent Braun a letter with that request, as off-road diesel fuel is a tax-exempt version of diesel and is used by tractors, bulldozers, and other off-road equipment.
The request is signed by 51 other Hoosier lawmakers, including state House Speaker Todd Houston. Pressel says their offices have heard “ongoing concerns from farmers across Indiana about diesel fuel costs and the impact those expenses are having on agricultural operations.”
