FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – City Utilities says New Haven Avenue between South Coliseum Boulevard and Meyer Road will be closed in both directions for about 4 hours, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026. Limited access to businesses will be available from Meyer near Indiana 930.
Crews will install a 30-inch water main beneath the roadway using directional drilling, a method that allows the pipe to be placed underground without excavating the entire road. The full closure is expected to remain in place until shortly after noon Friday.
After noon, the eastbound lane of New Haven Avenue will reopen. The westbound lane will remain closed, as it is currently, for ongoing work on the East Side Transmission Main project.
The project will strengthen water service to neighborhoods beginning near Edsall Avenue and support the industrial area along New Haven Avenue and Meyer Road.
Motorists should use an alternate route and allow extra travel time.
