FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A shooting investigation is underway on Fort Wayne’s south side on Thursday.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says officers responded to the 200 block of Maple Grove Avenue just before 10 p.m. and found what they called an “active incident”. Additional units were called in to help.
Police did not release many details but said the incident remains under active investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Team.
The FWPD released the following:
At approximately 9:50 p.m. on May 7, 2026, the Fort Wayne Police Department received a report of a possible shooting in the 200 block of East Maple Grove Avenue. Patrol officers responded to the scene and located an active incident requiring further investigation.
Officers and detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. The FWPD Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit, and Air Support Unit were requested to assist and are actively engaged in the investigation.
This incident remains under active investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Team. No additional information is available for release at this time.
