INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana National Guard is heading out on storm duty today. Governor Eric Holcomb yesterday activated 240 soldiers yesterday to help stranded drivers across the state.
Both the governor and INDOT’s director are asking people not to drive Thursday.
They say many parts of the state will see near-blizzard conditions. INDOT is also calling-up reinforcements. Nearly 1,700 hundred people and 900 trucks will be working to clear the roads across Indiana today.
The governor also asks residents to check on their neighbors, especially those who are elderly.
Governor Holcomb said this storm is the first significant statewide weather event he’s dealt with since taking office in 2017.
