FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two people are fighting for their lives after an SUV vs buggy crash in Allen County. It happened Wednesday evening on State Road 37.
The sheriff’s office in Fort Wayne says it looks like an SUV crashed head-on into a horse-drawn buggy.
The two people in the buggy were rushed to the hospital, they are in critical condition.
The horse that was leading the buggy died in the crash.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
At approximately 6:32 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of State Road 37 at Ricker Road, reference a personal injury crash.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered an SUV versus buggy crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that a horse-drawn buggy was southbound on Ricker Road and an SUV was traveling in a northeast direction on State Road 37 when they collided for unknown reasons.
The occupants of the buggy, one adult male and one adult female, were both transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Their horse did not survive the crash.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
