INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Governor Eric Holcomb is defending the state’s decision to reject the recommendation that Dr. Caitlin Bernard be a winner of the Torchbearer Award.
Holcomb said if someone is involved in a legal proceeding, “maybe it’s not the appropriate time for that individual.”
Dr. Bernard has been reprimanded by the state Medical Licensing Board, with that being the reason given by the Indiana Civil Rights Commission for rejecting her.
Bernard oversaw a medication abortion for a 10-year-old Ohio girl in Indiana last year, with a complaint by Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita being filed in November.
