INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – An Indianapolis Police officer who sued the NFL is dropping his case, for now.
Lawyers for Officer De’Joure Mercer dropped the suit yesterday but are keeping the option to refile the case. Mercer was suing the NFL for including Dreasjon Reed in its list of people wrongfully killed by the police.
Investigators say Mercer shot and killed Reed in May of 2020 after a chase and after Reed fired first. Mercer’s lawsuit accuses the NFL of defamation for putting out a false narrative about the shooting.
