INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana’s new Census numbers show a continuing trend.
People are moving away from the state’s more rural counties, and fewer people are identifying as white. The Census Bureau released the numbers yesterday.
Central Indiana, the areas around Indianapolis, continues to grow while more rural parts of the state shrank over the past decade.
Indiana’s population grew by nearly 5%, and there are now 6.7 million people in the state.
Indiana is also becoming more diverse. 77% of people in the state are white. Ten years ago, that number was 84%.
